As you can see it has the capability of producing sharp inside corners like most numbers have. All of the numbers are identical. There is no fall down from broken, or poorly executed, parts. Black tiles are also Corian® however they are cut on a table saw with a special purpose German saw blade. The backing plate is white high density polyethylene. It is a marine grade with UV inhibitors to handle sunlight exposure. The polyethylene backing plate was selected especially to handle the stresses of having screws attach the address plate to the wall. From here your special number goes into a gluing fixture that establishes alignment and 3M® provides the miracle of making a special industrial structural epoxy capable of bonding the backing plate to the Corian® number tile. Why is this so expensive compared to the labor intensiveness of the plaster series. It is a classic tradeoff of materials versus labor which in this case tilts the scale toward the weather resistant series.
Joe Eichler used the plaster series 50 years ago. We offer them, authentic down to the smallest detail. We could imagine that being a buff of new uses for new materials a more modern Joe Eichler might stay with the same design but update his choice of materials. Now the choice is yours.
